Wiring a house is simple to do But Do you know, how get it done properly?
Wiring a house can be easy or complicated. It all depends what you want and if your house is prewired with cablevision. It was not until not long ago, a single coax cable line, from the dish to the receiver, was need it. However, that has changed. The new TIVO and Recordable HDTV receivers made the wiring of your house a bit more challenging.

For those of you who are building a house right now and want to have it ready for Satellite, this is a very important information you MUST know. Make sure run enough coax lines for each room. This is crucial if you are thinking to add a High Definition PVR receiver. Do you want Satellite Wiring in all rooms including kitchen and restroom? Do you want the flexibility to change channels anywhere in the house? How about watching the same channels everywhere the house? What kind of receiver you want to have in your main living room? Believe or not, those are extremely important questions before you wire your house. Because once its done, it is very hard to hide cables.
Now, the first thing you should know about wiring a house is this: no matter what, you should use RG6 Coaxial cable. This is recommended and standard cable for Satellite TV. If you want to use a better one, you can use Compscope RG6 Cable. This is a bit heavy shield cable.
To make is simple for you, we will provide different scenarios
in Wiring a house:
1)
I want a satellite TV in each room.
If this is your choice, you have to make sure, either you or your electrician run an individual coax cable line from each room to the Furnace room or utility room.
2)
I want Satellite High Definition with PVR build it.
This is almost the same as (1) Except, that you need to bring two cables from the living room TV to the utility room or Furnance room. Why two cables? Because these HD PVR receivers have two tuners: one tuner is used to record and the other one two watch TV while you record. Therefore, you need two lines. Please be aware if you decide to split the signal of this receiver into another room, you need one more line coming back, from the HD PVR receiver to second room where you want to watch TV.
3)
I want Satellite receiver to work in all the TVs in the house.
This is the same as (1). The only difference is that you will place your receiver in the utility room and split the signal to the entire house. Please notice, for this kind of hook up, you need a remote extender or a UHF receiver. Otherwise, you can only change channels by pointing to the actual receiver box.
4)
I want a Satellite receiver in a room with cablevision too.
Wiring a house in this case, can be done two ways: The first option is to have two lines coming from utility room to the TV room. If not, you can get a pair of diplexers. Diaplexers are signal combiners which allow you to connect both cable and satellite using one cable. Also, you can use Diplexers to combine Antenna with satellite signal too.
