True FTA LNBs are used to pick up
Any wild feed channels
From accross the Globe

True FTA LNBs are used mainly for KU-Band. These LNBS pick up any free to air channels from Across the Globe. Depending where you are located, you need the proper size of dish to pick those wild feed channels. The following picture shows how a FTA LNB and dish looks like:

As you can see from the picture above, the LNB looks like a DSS lnb. However, they are not the same. This LNB, FTA LNB, is for KU-BAND or FTA purposes. Normally, you will see a logo or sticker specifing that. Also, you can see an example of the dish size need it to pick up FTA satellites. This is one example of many different satellites in the market. So, please, don't think this is the only one.

The two most popular Satellites, for FTA, are Galaxy 10R and Intelsat 5. Galaxy 10R gives you a few English channels including American Networks and some Spanish Channels. Intelsat 5 provides you with a wide variety of international channels. The mostly are from Iran, China and some from Afganistan.
