Solving Intermittent signal reception on your Satellite Dish
There are several reasons why Intermittent signal can occur. Obviously, you have to try the same troubleshooting steps as described in No Reception webpage. But, before you start there, be aware that 8 times out of 10, cutting in/out happens because of either faulty
cable
or connectors.
Faulty cable is hard to detect. Unless, you can see the actual cut. Infact, a cable twisted too much or bited by an animal can produce this problem. If that's the case, you must replace it. Running a temporarily cable through a window or door will answer the question whether or not the existing cable is defective or not.
If the cable is not the problem, check the coaxial ends. Rusty or old coaxial ends prevents the signal to flow smoothly through the cable. Even, if the coaxial ends looks okay, it is a good practice to replace them, if necessary. This troubleshooting technique is way easier than changing the entire cable. Unless there is no choice.
Please be aware, we are not saying this is the problem in your situation. All we are saying, from our years of experience, in the satellite industry, cable and coaxial ends affect or produce the cutting in out effect.
Obviously, you still have to check satellite reception. Remember, a low signal reception will produce Intermittent signal.
