HDMI-cable delivers uncompressed
All-digital audio/video interface
Using one single cord

HDMI-cable free up the space of having multiple cables, sometimes up to 5 cables, to connect a High Definition TV. In other words, HDMI process video/audio signal by using one single cable. This is superior than

DVI cable. In terms of picture quality, DVI & HDMI delivers the same quality picture. That's why there are adapters among them. Not all the satellite receivers have HDMI connection build in it. The most common ones are PVR-HDTV receivers such as Bell expressvu 9242 & Dishnetwork series models.

Whether you are connecting a HDMI_cable or DVI cable to your television set, you still need to run RCA cables or Coaxial cable to your TV if you want to enjoy full size picture quality on non HDTV channels. Otherwise, you will end up seeing only a small square picture in the middle of your television set.

Which is better: HDMI, DVI or Component?

So which one is better in terms of quality picture between HDMI, DVI-D and Component Video ? This is not easy to answer. From the specifications point of view and friendly easy setup, HDMI is number one choice. The second best one is DVI-D. Second best due to the fact of lacking of sound. Component Video is third because it sends the signal voltage in an analog path. From real life, if you compare HDMI, DVI-D & Component Video, you will have a hard time to distiguish between each one. You be the judge!
