Directv lnb is has a unique square Shape that fits only for DSS dishes
Unless, you modify a
Bell ExpressVu
or
Dishnetwork dish,
you will not make a Directv lnb fit in one of the above. The exclusiveness of this LNB is the square shape at the end. The following picture illustrates better:
Please be aware that a DirecTV lnb looks exactly the same as a linear feed lnb. What's the difference? DSS lnb are circular feed which works only for
DSS,
BEV or Dish Network. While a linear feed lnb works for True Free To Air Satellites. Normally, a RCA lnb will have a logo showing up. In this way, you will know you have to right LNB.
One thing to notice is that DirecTV has three satellites you can point at. These are 110W, 119W and 101W. The last two use the regular DSS LNB. But, 110W is where all the HDTV channels are located. For this, you need a special LNB that comes in a kit called SAT-KIT-C. This is a totally different LNB than your regular DSS LNB.
Please be aware that a regular splitter won't work to connect more than two receivers for a dual DSS lnb. If you have to have more than two receivers, you have to use
multiswitches.
Please check our section on switches. In there, you will have a more detail idea how that works. All you got to know now, is that two receivers work using a dual RCA LNB.
